המתרגמת וחוקרת הספרות העברית אדריאנה ג'ייקובס תשוחח עם איילת צברי, מעין איתן וואן נויין, על תרגום, על יחסים ומעברים בין שפות, על תרגום עצמי ועל כתיבה בשפה שאינה שפת אם.

אדריאנה ג'ייקובס היא מתרגמת ופרופסורית לספרות עברית חדשה באוניברסיטת אוקספורד. היא מתרגמת שירה עברית חדשה מעברית לאנגלית. תרגומה לספרה של ואן נויין, "עין הכמהין", ראה אור לאחרונה בהוצאת Zephyr Press.

 

מעין איתן היא סופרת, מתרגמת, עורכת וחוקרת. ספר הביכורים שלה, "אהבה", ראה אור בעברית בשנת 2020 בסדרת "מעבדה" של הוצאת רסלינג, ויראה אור בקרוב באנגלית בתרגום עצמי בהוצאת Penguin Press.

 

ואן נויין היא משוררת, עיתונאית ושחקנית. ספר הביכורים שלה, "עין הכמהין", ראה אור בעברית בשנת 2008 בהוצאת מעין, ותורגם לאנגלית על־ידי אדריאנה ג'ייקובס. ספרה השני, "חיתוך ההבלים", ראה אור בשנת 2018 בהוצאת ברחש.

 

איילת צברי היא סופרת שכותבת בעיקר באנגלית. ספר הביכורים שלה, "המקום הכי טוב בעולם", נכתב באנגלית וראה אור בשנת 2016 בהוצאת Random House, וראה אור בעברית באותה שנה בהוצאת עם עובד. ספרה השני, "אמנות העזיבה", ראה אור בשנת 2019, גם הוא בהוצאת Random House.

The independent bookshop Sipur Pashut is inviting you to a conversation on the occasion of Women in Translation Month. The translator and scholar Adriana X. Jacobs will talk with Ayelet Tsabari, Maayan Eitan and Vaan Nguyen about translation, movement between languages, self-translation and writing in a language that is not your mother tongue.

  

The conversation will be held in English.

  

Adriana X. Jacobs is a translator from Hebrew to English and associate professor of modern Hebrew literature at the University of Oxford. Her translations of contemporary Hebrew poetry include Vaan Nguyen’s The Truffle Eye (2021, Zephyr Press).

  

Maayan Eitan is a writer, translator, editor and researcher. Her first novel, titled “Love”, was published in Israel in 2020 and will be published in English soon (2022, Penguin Press), translated by the author herself.

  

Ayelet Tsabari is an author who writes mostly in English. Her first book, "The Best Place on Earth" (2016, Random House), was translated into Hebrew. Her second book, "The Art of Leaving" (2019, Random House), was written and published in English. 

  

Vaan Nguyen is a poet, journalist and actress. Her debut, "The Truffle Eye", was published in Hebrew in 2008 and was recently published in English, translated from Hebrew by Adriana Jacobs. Her second book was published in 2018 in Hebrew.
